Trip to Aunt Helen's House

We just got back from visiting Aunt Helen in the Poconos. I had a lot of fun playing with Aunt Helen and chasing her cat, Ralphie (aka "Ralph-tee")

Trip to Grandma and Grandpa's House

Mommy and I went to see Grandma and Grandpa on Thursday so I could hang out with Grandpa while Mommy and Grandma took some time to do things. While we were there, we put up the Christmas Tree and put out a Christmas Train. I love the Christmas Train. Also while we were there, we had a big ice storm. We ended up with a little more than 3/4" of ice, not to mention some snow. We got "stuck" there until Saturday morning and when we left, they still didn't have power. Thank goodness for generators!!

The Roof, The Roof, The Roof Is On Fire...

Well, not quite - but if Meghan keeps playing with the thermostat it will. Apparently she thought it a good idea to crank the thermostat on the oil furnace up as high as it would go...a few moments later, portions of the tank were red hot. Nice.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today was Thanksgiving! We celebrated it at Great-Grandma's house and I watched the parade with Aunt Helen and Great-Grandma Eileen. I missed seeing Grandma MJ and Great-Grandma Lois (and even asked for them a few times), but Mommy let me call them to wish them a "Happy Thanksgiving". Aunt Helen thought it was very funny that I kept trying to use Great-Grandma's rug as a blanket...I thought it was cute! Grandma and I made turkeys out of Oreos, Candy Corn and Hershey Kisses.

Lobster

Meghan went to Red Lobster today - she took whatever chances she could to sit and stare at the tank of lobsters ... in spite of the fact that when she asked me what they were called I told her "lunch"... ( :-) ) The woman (apparently a hostess?) came over and asked if she would like to touch one and Meghan, being Meghan, said "sure!"...until it came time to do it...then she only wanted Mommy to "pet it"... She liked them only in the tank. (and when she ate her little fondue :-P )

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...

Meghan now loves to sing three songs..."Row, Row, Row Your Boat", "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and she sings along with the "ABC's"...I'll have to get a video on something other than my cell phone, because it's just adorable.

Big Girl Bed

Meghan's moved on from her toddler bed. We tried her in a small foldaway twin bed to see if that made a difference in her sleeping habits and it did...in a big way. She still doesn't sleep as late in the morning as I'd like (usually up at 6:30 - 7:30, thankfully Daddy is a morning person) but she sleeps through the night (mostly) now. Because she was doing so well, she found she liked a spare queen sized bed that was "floating around" and while she visited Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Joey and Murph with me on Sunday, Daddy and Grandma surprised her by changing her bed out and putting the new bed up. She didn't realize it until this morning, but was ecstatic and instead of coming into bed with Daddy and I when she woke up, she literally DRUG Daddy into her room and bed and kept saying "MY ROOM! MY BED!"

What does a pirate say?

ARGH! Meghan dressed up as a pirate for Halloween and was a very cute one, at that. (not that I'm biased or anything). If you asked her what a pirate said, she would cock her head, curl her lip, bend her arm and say "argh"...hehehe. She did her "traditional" rounds...went with daddy in the morning to see some of his friends while I got dressed and then Meghan and I were off to see the grandmas...She especially loved "the butterfly" (Nadine) and even dragged her through the school. She went with Grandma MJ to the parade that night and loved the "Happy Parade" as she called it...she ended her night with a trip to me at work and a root beer float.

OH...and in the last picture she's hugging her 2 foot tall "Winnie the Pooh" that she had to have and Daddy promised her he would get her.

Cellulitis

So apparently Meghan had cellulitis. Her (not normally seen) pediatrician's nurse slipped up and told us and that's the only way we found out. When I brought it up to the pediatrician he spoke to us as if he had mentioned that little tidbit and then went on his way. At least we knew what it was. Oh...and for any keeping track, this is the same pediatrician that I had to fight with to get the reflux diagnosis for her...maybe the third time (heaven forbid there is one) will be the charm and he'll realize I really do KNOW my daughter.

Meghan's Leg...

is 100 times better...it seems to have completely resolved with the medication...she's acting much more like herself, too, which is nice.

NOT a Histamine Reaction

Photobucket

Photobucket

Nearly a week had passed and it still wasn't improving so back to the Peds Office we went...the site is infected...she's been on an antibiotic for 2 days now and there has been a marked improvement. The pictures above are showing what it looked like pre-anitbiotics...

Histamine Reaction

Meghan got stung by a bee on Sunday night...little bastard was hiding in my car waiting. OK, so maybe not that dramatic, but one would have thought that. He got her twice. Once on the back of the left thigh and another on the outside of her right calf. Poor thing FREAKED *understandbly*. Mom and I could.not.figure.out what the problem was. We got her inside and finally found out what the problem was. Sprayed her with a little Benadryl, put her back in the car (after killing the bee and tossing his ass in the burn barrel) and drove home. Got her home, she went to bed and slept until 8am. When she woke up in the morning she was fine and there was very little sign of what had happened the night before.

Fast forward to this morning. She wakes up and starts telling me she has an 'ouchie'...I ask her to show me and she points to the back of her leg. I look at it and the bee sting site has swollen again and there's a lovely little rash around it...I call the Peds to see what they have to say (since it was free and clear and now it was returning) and they said to bring her in...we get an appointment. There was enough time to make a few errand stops so we do so...while we're in Office Max she starts getting the blotches all over her face...primarily on her forehead. Daddy shows up, we show him, and then head over to the Doc's office. By the time we get there they're mostly gone (ain't that the way it always is?) and there's only a small section of them on her cheek under her left eye.

The pediatrician checks her out and rules it a "Histamine Reaction"...so now she's on Benadryl every 6 hours until it clears. Poor sweetie.

"Face" Painting

I went to Michael's Grand Opening with with mommy and grandma today and they had face painting. A really cool lady put an island on my arm! I sat really still and am still guarding it 2 days later.

she's trying to kill me, part 2

naked toddler....
toilet....

she thought she was taking a bath.... *sigh*

She's trying to kill me...

TWO TIMES I left her "alone" in a room while I did something necessary...and TWO TIMES we ended up in the bathroom with an impromptu "angel bath" in the sink...the first time I went downstairs to put clothes in the dryer...I came upstairs to find she had gotten a hold of a bottle of body wash and was wearing half of it on her hands/arms...the second time I emptied the dishwasher and she came out to be, proud as could be, because she had put lotion on...and lotion herself, she did. All over hands, arms, legs, shirt, hair, face, FURNITURE...aye ya yi...is it time for work yet?

Jon & Tiffany's Wedding Weekend - Friday

the waitress at breakfast gave Meghan a cup to use and she thought she was HOT STUFF because she had "coffee"
