30 Week Appointment

I will never again ask "what's next?". I found out. My blood pressure at today's appointment was 152/96. Way too high. Add to that the headaches and swelling and you have the Dr telling you that not only are you heading for toxemia and possibly bed rest/hospitalization, but you're being put on blood pressure medication. It's better than the bed rest that the nurse wanted me to consider doing today. The nurse, it seems, feels that I shouldn't even be working with all of the issues I've been having and is impressed that I still am. We have another Ultrasound on Friday (because of the diabetes) and I had more bloodwork and urine samples taken today (because I also now have protein in my urine)...and I have to do another 24 hour urine sample. I will continue with checking my blood pressure and will check the sugar 4 times a day (at least they didn't put me on insulin...I think I would have lost it at that point)...I have an appointment in 1 week to determine if the medication is working and then I guess they'll go from there.

The good news was that I'm only up 4 lbs total from pre-pregnancy weight. That and Meghan wanted NOTHING TO DO with the doppler...she kept moving away from it and actually kicked it a few times (or hit it?)... :-)

THEN we go to the lab to get the blood drawn - there was only one phlebotomist working and she was dealing with a difficult patient and as I'm sitting in the waiting room I can feel myself ready to pass right the heck out (thanks to the nerves the baby is sitting on) and the registrar keeps asking questions that are already in the system...it's not as though I'm a new patient. I feel like crap, I'm all flushed and she asks me if I'm "cold"...no, I just don't feel well and this is all information that's already in the system...so I sign the paper and sit down...FINALLY they call me in and I get everything done...so we move on to Eckerd's to get the prescription filled. I've been to Eckerd's in the last year more than I've been there in probably 10, so when they ask me if I've been there before, the answer is of course, yes. Well, 20 minutes later Scott and I stop to pick up the prescription and apparently the lady doesn't see me because she says to Scott, "the woman who dropped this off said she had been here before and she's not in our system so she's obviously mistaken"... *GRRRRR* At which point I tell her to look again because I've been there quite a few times between their store and the Chestnut St store. She finally finds me in the system (doesn't bother to apologize) and then tells us it will be another 15 minutes. I'm already cutting it close to being late for work...and I'm fuming. So we leave the "convinience" of the drive-thru pickup and I storm in to the store. (Cell Phone was lost somewhere in that shuffle...still haven't found it - not that it's working anway) I finally get to pick up the medication and she tells me that it's "early" because it had a pick up time of "16:15"...Which is 4:15... We dropped it off at 3:00 and were told it would take 15 minutes...hmmm...so I informed her of that, paid my copay and left.

Thankfully I made it on time to work, but I'm sure my blood pressure is still up there... *sigh* So we go back in a week for more "revelations"...
